Japanese Hair Straightening

Hello everyone!

On a previous post I did a review on Magic Sleek, a type of hair treatment similar to keratin. If you would like to read that review- here is the link MAGIC SLEEK REVIEW

Today, I am going to do another review on hair. It is just a coincidence haha.

Review on Liscio Japanese Hair Straightening

Recently, I did Japanese hair straightening. I was looking for a hair treatment that would permanently straighten my hair.

My hair history:
Cezanne treatment (keratin) 2x
Magic Sleek (a form of keratin) 2x

My hair description:
I have- a lot of hair
          - extremely thick hair
          - very wavy/a little curly hair
(My hair on the left is when you brush through it, on the right is after I have it straightened)

What is Liscio Japanese Hair Straightening?
The Liscio Japanese Hair Straightening is a treatment/process that permanently straightens your hair until it grows. With this treatment you can shower, go in the pool, the ocean, anywhere! And your hair will still be straight. No matter what. It will make your hair frizz free, shiny, and most importantly- straight! This is very different from the keratin treatment which eliminates frizz and bulkiness in your hair but keeps some of your original curl. The Japanese straightening does not keep any curl or wave in your hair. It makes your hair pin straight. Also, there are different types of Japanese hair straightening brands. (Yuko, Bio Ionic, Matrix Opti, etc)

Why Liscio?
The reason I chose Liscio is because it is formaldehyde free, most of the salons I was thinking of going to based on reviews/recommendations carried the Liscio brand, and it seemed like it had the best/healthiest results.

Research:
Doing the Japanese hair straightening process isn't like dying your hair. This is permanent, as in there is no going back to your old curly/wavy/frizzy hair. It doesn't come out in a few months, and it does damage your hair a bit. When I say damage, I mean that it is a chemical process and they do flat iron the hair many times. Before I got the Japanese hair straightening I didn't want to get a haircut beforehand because I knew that the ends of my hair would get damaged the most. Since the ends of my hair were already a bit damaged I just left it so that way when I did get a haircut afterwards, then the ends would be healthy. Also, since I wanted to make sure there was absolutely no formaldehyde I emailed the company (Liscio) and asked them what was in the treatment. They kindly responded and sent me the ingredients and answered all of my questions. I also wanted to make sure that when heat was applied to the hair (when they flat iron the hair) that formaldehyde wasn't released because I've heard that in some treatments that does happen. Also, with the Liscio Japanese hair straightening you have to dye your hair at least two weeks before or after the process. The Japanese straightening is a drying process to the hair and too much chemicals is no good.

How the process is done:

Once you've done this process you can't tuck your hair behind your ear, curl, get wet, put in a ponytail, and wash, for 3 days. When I got it done, the hair stylist told me- if I can, to wait even longer, up to a week. So, I ended up washing my hair 4 days later and when it dried naturally my hair was straight. Not pin straight but straight, and I am ok with that. My hair looks gorgeous naturally because it doesn't look pin straight with no volume or anything. And when I want it to be straight and really nice, I just run a brush through my hair with the blowdryer and within 5-10 minutes I'm done. It used to take me up to an hour to straighten my hair with the results I wanted.

My hair used to take like 12+ hours to dry after I showered. (I have a lot of hair) Now it will be completely dry in like 3-4 hours. I still have a lot of hair and let me tell you- In the shower once you use conditioner, your hair will LITERALLY feel like SILK. It's crazy!! I couldn't stop feeling my hair after the first wash. It felt so soft and healthy. Of course, I got a haircut a few days later because the end of my hair were dry but now, my hair is in the best condition it has ever been!

I LOVE JAPANESE STRAIGHTENING!!!

After Care:
It's recommended that after you do the Japanese straightening treatment you use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners since the treatment dries out your hair a bit.

These shampoos/conditioners smell A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!! I couldn't stop smelling them when I bought them lol!

Shampoo: L'oreal EverCreme Intense Nourishing Shampoo
Conditioner: L'oreal EverCreme Intense Nourishing Conditioner
Leave in conditioner: Bed Head After-Party

Should You Get Japanese Straightening?
- If you have curly hair and/or want to have straight hair I highly suggest that you do the Liscio Japanese Hair Straightening.
- If you want to keep your curls or just want to get rid of frizz/bulkiness but don't want straight hair I recommend the Cezanne Keratin treatment. (Neither of these processes contain formaldehyde. :) )
- If it takes you a really long time to straighten your hair and achieve the results you like, I suggest you do the Japanese Hair straightening treatment.
- IF your hair is really damaged/dry I don't think you should do the Japanese hair straightening process because it damages the hair a bit and is a drying process. Talk to a hair stylist to see what you can do to help make your hair healthy again.

But, at the end of the day, it's all up to you.
